Leaving the Marina

Today's Canal - Llangollen

We have been back home for a week with quite a dense diary of activities - especially various appointments (dentist, hairdresser, chiropodist etc) and also to catch up a bit with our new garden. However, the main reason our brief return was this past week was that the MOT on our car was due by end of September. Glad to report that it too passed with all the right boxes ticked. It had its annual service as well.

One of the appointments was to have out fifth COVID jab. The organisation of the appointment and the centre was, as before, excellent and went very smoothly. The problem has been that, for the first time, we have had a slight reaction. Not serious but a sore arm for a couple of days and, for a bit longer, a feeling of tiredness and lethargy.Still not quite over it.

As a result we ditched the option of returning to the boat yesterday as that would have required us to have been more on the ball over the weekend. This meant that we could yesterday load up 75% of what need to go into the car, leaving mainly the coolbox contents to pack this morning.

We were away by ten with an estimated journey time of exactly three hours. Apart from a short comfort break at a service station we arrived bang on schedule! Fewer traffic delays than last time although the motorway did get quite busy at one point, enough to slow everyone down a bit.

We turned into the marina before 1.30 and immediately set about unloading the car, filling with water and otherwise preparing to set off. No doubt we could have stayed another night but we had paid up front to leave today. Which is what we did.

With days quickly becoming shorter we have to be more aware of getting to a mooring in good time and our aim was only to the same place that we stayed before going into the marina.

At least it is a good facility with plenty of rings as well as armco. The only issue was making sure we were not under an oak tree - we were bombarded even on the short journey here!

When we moored it was still rather grey and pretty windy but as the sun was setting it became a very pleasant evening for the short time that day;light remained.
