Still at Ely

The plan for today was to do a 'good' shop at the nearby Sainsburys whilst waiting for Alice and Jess to be dropped off by their parents. After that we would then cruise up to thew Lark to one of the visitor moorings near the junction.

The first of the plan went well and according to schedule (well, almost as we did not make a particularly early start, LTRU!)

This picture shows the two main centres of religion (joke!) although the nearer one was not as busy as we had expected on a Saturday morning.

We loaded our shopping trolley with rather more items than anticipated, too much really to carry in one go. Christine managed to persuade Denise, the checkout person, to put the trolley somewhere secure whilst we made the first trip back to the boat. The relationship was helped when Christine spotted that Denise was wearing a Dementia Awareness badge.

We both made it back to the boat heavy laden and Christine started to stow it all away, especially the frozen items, whilst Mike returned for the rest. When he came back half an hour later, Christine asked where had he been? Actually, he had only taken 30 minutes and it is 10 minutes each way but the extra was taken up because he wanted to leave a positive feedback report - this was not as easy to find as it really ought to be and then he was informed all reports had to be put on a Complaints Form! Hopefully it will end up in the appropriate manger's hands.

After lunch, Mike made use of the sani station which was not far away but the water point was just too far. We did not want to risk leaving our mooring as by now there was obvious competition for any space that came free,

Not long after 2.30, the Windsor crew arrived as scheduled. At least our directions worked.

However, everyone was a bit spaced out by the sultry heat - the two girls found a nearby play area, with better-than-average equipment. When Adrian and Joanna opted to make a move to look around the cathedral and the city centre the girls came back to the boat but readily accepted the suggestion that they visit the same ice cream wagon that we patronised yesterday.

By now it was far to late to set off and have a reasonable expectation of finding a proper mooring - judging by the amount of passing traffic. Down the River Lark might have been OK but it seemed just too risky and our present space would quickly be re-filled. Hence the title of today's blog.

The girls went off to explore further the Country Park and as this blog is being written they have yet to return! (Actually just as we were about to Publish there was 'We're Back')
